Humon started Keep Step Farm in Rockville, Maryland in April, 2025 about 30 minutes away from where he grew up in Garrett Park.
I believe regeneratively grown food sold locally strengthens local economies and improves soil health.
I’m not exactly sure how I got into this profession. I grew up in the suburbs. I think a combination of my parents teaching me about eating right, me wanting to know where my food comes from, and being laid off twice from office jobs led me to what I’m doing now.
Before starting my farm he worked at ECO City Farms and Common Root Farm in Maryland and volunteered at Faithful Farms and Ten Mothers Farm in North Carolina. I also worked as a lobbyist and advocate for small- scale farmers. Did I mention I sold pickles for Number 1 Sons (RIP) all over the DMV during the COVID- 19 Pandemic.
On the weekends I’m a market manager for FRESHFARM. At night I’m doing stand up comedy (pretty much as hard as farming) around the DC area. Follow my comedy on IG @humanhumon.
One step at a time.
